The Ronin Story

The team at Ronin didn’t set out to build something revolutionary. They set out to solve a problem that kept showing up in the worst places—hundreds of feet in the air, in the rain, in the dark, when fatigue wasn’t just inconvenient… it was dangerous.

Our goal was simple, but brutal: create a tool that could take the strain of ascent without taking away control, safety, or reliability. Early versions failed. Motors overheated. Gear systems slipped under load. Batteries died too fast or added too much weight.

More than once, the team considered shelving the idea entirely. But every failure revealed something useful—what not to trust when someone’s life depends on it. As torque curves were refined to match real climbing conditions and redundancies were built in to ensure safe operation, we rigorously tested in mud, ice, and driving rain—because that’s where it had to perform, not in perfect conditions.

The Ronin Powered Ascender wasn’t designed to replace skill. It was designed to preserve it—to make sure that when a climber reaches the top, they still have everything left to do the job right.

And once crews started using it, something changed. They climbed faster. Worked longer. Finished safer. And no one asked anymore whether it was necessary.

Only why it hadn’t existed sooner.
